Hooves in the Snow

A sudden, unexpected visitor made her overthink her decisions and their life took a turn for the better.

My submission to the “Year of the Ox” contest.

Soaking in a Luscious Pool

Kibora Karikisa lives in the town of Arbomont, with a mother who does not care and her abusive step husband. Seeking a better life for herself and her sick younger brother, Meshi, Kibora takes up the mantle in hopes to make it out of the town Arbomont, but into order to get safe, she must cross the Alcrueastuea Forest, where potent Alraune are known to live. A bad snow storm is closing in.

Foreword ::: For those who are strongly against it, there is some rape at the beginning of the story; it is to help set in that the main character has very good reason for running away from home, the rape ends when actual story begins.

Kobayashi-san’s Dragon Wife

The daily life Kobayashi has had with Tohru since she met her has reached a boiling point. In the end, it was all the little things that finally taught her what love really was all about. Tohru’s perversion may have rubbed off on her in the process, though.

Uncertain Hearts

Istandrine. A chilly, dark, dreary land full of whispers, superstition, and hushed secrets, sequestered in forested hills and rife with ancient, dubious intent. Not normally the sort of place one wants to visit, for business or pleasure. But for Comtesse Vanisa de Gwynn, a Satyros who doesn’t truly know what she wants from life, maybe it’s the perfect place?

Forced Freedom

Major Ashlynn Daray, Hero of the Crimson Wing Brigade unit: Aeria Gloris — “Heavenly Glory,” has managed to make her way back to base, sequestered within Royal Ravalia, a kingdom neighboring LescatiĆ©, narrowly escaping capture at the hands of the ruthless mamono of Darkhaven.

… Except something feels missing. Wrong, somehow. Did she truly escape unscathed?

This story takes place in my original setting created for “Eyes in the Dark” and “Electrickery,” and was written as a speed-writing challenge with EighthSpan. The goal was to choose a subject matter for the other person and write what was given. I chose Inari, and was assigned Ropers. The Roper has not received much love, so I aimed to change that. I wrote this story in about 3 days, not including editing/proofreading. The goal was to keep the story at or under 20k words, which I failed miserably, coming in at over 31k. Oh, well. Better luck next time. Enjoy!
