One Hell of a Duel

“You really think your precious Odd-Eyes Rebellion is safe Marcus?”

A black-haired young man with a somewhat scrawny build smirked in response as he repositioned himself on the bleacher to get more comfortable.

“Regardless of whatever stunt you pull Hayden, I’m sure I’ll be able to recover,” Marcus said with an easygoing attitude.

His opponent smirked as he targeted Abyss Actor with Abbyss Script.

“Say Goodbye to your Odd-Eyes Marcus,” Hayden announced, as he sacrificed his Abyss Actor as well as 2900 LP just to remove Marcus’ Odd-Eyes off the board.

“Now, with nothing standing in my way, prepare yourself for a direct attack!”

Marcus’ calm and collected demeanor faded as he watched Hayden’s Abyss Actor – Super Star deliver a direct blow, costing him 2500 LP.

Marcus scoffed as he watched Hayden prepare for his next phase.

Off on the other side of the gym, a pair of glowing orbs watched attentively, as the duo played their game.

“Tch- why do they have to play that nerd game here of all places,” An ashen-skinned girl scoffed, as she dribbled a basketball in place.

“Oh Helena, are you sure you aren’t just mad he’s not paying attention to you~” teased a silver-haired Gargoyle.

Helena growled as she tossed the ball to her fellow teammate.

“This isn’t the place for nerdy little games Carmen. Now check the ball,” she said her eyes lit up in a blaze of annoyance.

The Gargoyle gulped at the Hellhound’s demand and checked the ball. Helena took the ball and stepped backward, she flicked her wrist putting the perfect arc on the ball as it left her hands. It sliced through the air and swished effortlessly through the net. Her teammate was left speechless at the stunt she just performed. Helena’s tail began to wag in excitement as she glanced back to Marcus to see if he witnessed her performance. However, when she turned around she saw him head down still invested in his little card game.

Her tail quickly stopped wagging and drooped down as she mumbled something under her breath.

Carmen noticed her team captain was about to pop a fuse so she tried to calm her down. “Hey Helena, I don’t know why you care so much and why he sees you not, let’s go meet up with the rest of the girls and-“ Carmen was cut off as Helena placed her hand on her face and shoved her backward as she approached the male duo.

Hayden was dumbfounded as Marcus used Monster Reborn putting his Odd eyes back on the board.

“No way! You have a reborn card?”

“I told you, it didn’t matter what tricks you had up your sleeve I was going to come out on top,” Marcus announced as he initiated an attack on Hayden’s abyss actor. After defeating the weak card Hayden himself took on the rest of the attack causing his remaining LP to hit zero.

Hayden shook his head in disbelief, “Well played Marcus,” Hayden said as he gathered his deck.

“Hey dude, you played well, you just have to learn how to set up for your special summons is all.”

As Marcus and Hayden conversed Helena slowly closed in on the two.

“Hey! What do you runts think you are doing?”

Hayden jumped at Helena’s sudden presence and decided that it was best not to stick around.

“Uh, I had fun, But I got to go Marcus. See you next week,” Hayden said as he scampered off.

Marcus waved to his friend before turning back to Helena with an annoyed expression.

The Hellhound also held a similar expression of annoyance, she slightly leaned her frame over his, asserting herself over him.

“We were just playing a game on the bleachers, what did we do wrong Helena?”

Helena rolled her eyes, “That’s what you did wrong. The gym is no place to host your nerdy little games runt. Take it to the library or computer lab and stay out of the way,” Helena barked.

Marcus closed the distance between him and Helena, he knew her type all bark no bite. She was a star player, if she wanted to play she needed a clean record. Marcus knew she wouldn’t do anything.

“I still don’t see a problem, we played our game on the bleachers, out of the way from anyone on the court,” Marcus retorted.

Helena’s flames grew as Marcus spoke, “Don’t argue with me runt, this isn’t the place for nerdy little games. I don’t want to see it while I practice, it affects my performance,” she said baring her fangs at him.

Marcus raised a brow “Ya know Helena,” a smug smile grew on his face.

“A meathead like you probably couldn’t even figure out how to play Yu Gi Oh. Yeah, that’s it gotta be what has your tail in a knot.” Marcus teased as he packed up the rest of his game.

A hushed snicker erupted from the gargoyle who stood behind Helena. A low growl could be heard erupting from Helena before she turned back to Marcus

“But I’ll tell you what Helena, I’ll play the rest of my games in the computer lab, just for you,” he said as he began to make his way out of the gym.

Before he reached the exit he felt a paw on his shoulder before he was pushed up against a wall.

Helena pressed her weight against his restraining his ability to escape her.

She cupped his chin tilting his face up to look at her. He blushed as he felt her paw fondle his face.

“You got quite the smart mouth on ya punk, you know that,” Helena said as she inspected him thoroughly.

“What’s your point?” Marcus said as he tried to turn away from her, in an attempt to hide the red tint forming on his cheeks.

Helena grinned devilishly “Ya got spunk I’ll give ya that, how about we make a deal~?” She said methodically.

“I’ll play that little nerdy card game of yours, but the Loser has to do whatever the winner says for a day. How does that sound runt?” Helena said making sure her fangs were visible as she spoke.

Marcus thought for a moment before looking at her at her sparkling golden orbs.

“Fine with me,” Marcus said brazenly.

Helena licked her lips as she looked him over one last time before removing herself from him and letting him go, “Good, show up at my place tomorrow at around noon, I’m going to enjoy putting you in your place runt.”

Marcus quickly shuffled out of the gym, shielding his flustered expression from her as he did so.

“And I plan to put that smart mouth of yours to good use as well ya hear!” Helena yelled to Marcus as he turned the corner.

“Ya know it’s so obvious to everyone you two like each other right, I don’t know why you don’t just take him, rather than go through all this trouble?” The Gargoyle spoke up.

Helena did not face Carmen, rather she continued her gaze on the door and responded in an overbearing tone.

“That is why I must play this game, Carmen. I have to beat him at his own game, that way he truly knows his place.” Helena said as she began to salivate while dreaming seeing the look on Marcus’ face when he loses to her.

“Do you even know how to play that game?” Helena snapped out of her trance and gave Carmen a reassuring pat on her shoulder.

“Oh Carmen, it’s a silly little card game, I’ll just Google it, and learn before our game tomorrow.”

“But what if you lose?”

“Oh Carmen, my sweet little worry wort, I never lose,” Helena said as her eyes shimmered confidently.

“Uh huh, whatever ya say,” Carmen replied her voice filled with doubt.

******************************************************************

“You did what?” Hayden asked baffled.

“She challenged me at a game of Yu Gi Oh, and I obliged it’s no big deal,” Marcus explained as he walked with his friend back home.

“Only it is a big deal, what if you lose?”

Marcus smugly scoffed, “I’m not going to lose, this is Helena we are talking about.”

“Okay, let me rephrase, what if you win?” Hayden asked with a brow raised.

Marcus didn’t react to his question at first, rather his face went red, and he avoided answering the question.

“Mmhhmm, you know you two should just skip the game, and tell each other how y’all feel. It’ll save time for everybody” Hayden said as he nudged his buddy’s shoulder.

“It’s not the point, she thinks she is so great at everything, well I’m going to show her that some things require more than muscle.”

Hayden rolled his eyes as he turned the corner to his house, but not before wishing his friend good luck on his game with Helena tomorrow.

********************************************************************

The rest of the day went by with Helena looking up how to play the game on her phone

She started to realize what Carmen was saying by this wasn’t an ordinary card game. She figured she would clear her head before looking at her phone again.

“Shit, I can’t let this runt beat me at something like this I have to be able to figure out something,” she thought to herself.

Bigger problems were thought of. She had no cards, and she didn’t want to god forbid ask him for a spare deck.

“Ugh fine I’ll go buy some today after school,” she thought to herself.

After school, she rushed to the store to see if she could find cards.

Once she saw the collection she was overwhelmed immediately.

“Oh no, I don’t know how to build this stuff,” she said shuffling through the various products.

She looked near the bottom and saw something she vaguely remembered from the video. It was a prebuilt deck, a “Starter Deck”

“Perfect, I just have to learn this and that runt is as good as mine,” Helena thought holding the box in her paws.

Once she got home she went straight to her room and started to look through her cards in bed.

“What the fuck? Does all this stuff work together? Ugh, I am going to have to learn this deck tonight?” she thought as she flipped through them.

She knew she would be up for a while so she ordered something from Warm Delight’s.

Looking through the cards she knew this was going to be a nightmare and she wasn’t going to remember all this.

*********************************************************************

She barely slept that night.

She strolled into the kitchen and retrieved a carton of orange juice. Helena removed the cap and chugged the rest of the beverage until she heard the sudden ringing of her doorbell. She checked the time and cursed at herself as she realized she was out of time.

“I didn’t want to sleep this late, and fuck he is here,” she said straightening herself out.

“Oh, the stupid cards,” she remembered quickly rushing to grab them before he came in

Marcus held his carrying bag close to his side as he waited outside Helena’s door. He stared at the obsidian black steel door, which was somehow riddled with scratches and claw marks.

He took a deep breath as he went to ring the doorbell.

He pressed it and stepped back as he waited for the door to open.

He could hear the bell ring out throughout the house, followed by the sound of paws quickly clopping on the floor and heading towards the door.

Soon enough the door opened and Helena was there to greet him, she stared at him with a smug grin.

“Uh hey, are you ready?” Marcus said breaking the silence.

Helena leaned against the door frame and nodded, “Ready as I’ll ever be. How about you? Are you ready to lose runt?”

Marcus rolled his eyes and scoffed, “Whatever meathead,” he said as he walked passed her into her home.

He looked around, the house’s overall aesthetic was overly gothic, the floors were stone tile, and the house smelled of tree bark with burnt bbq.

“Set up in the living room, and let’s get this over with,” Helena said as she closed and locked the front door.

Marcus did so and sat at the coffee table in the middle of the living room.

“So are your parents home? or…” Marcus asked as he set up the board.

Helena walked over and sat on the opposite end before scrolling on her phone.

“Nah, my parents decided to make plans for a last-minute date in Nola for the weekend. So it’s just little old me~” she responded adding a hint of sultry to the last bit of her words.

Helena set her phone down face up on the table as she looked at the board, Marcus glanced and noticed her phone displayed the rules of Yu-Gi-Oh on it before fading to black. He then looked up at her and noticed she seemed to be a little overwhelmed at the stack of cards and the board itself.

“Hey Helena, you know how to play this game right?”

Helena blinked a few times before speaking,

“Uh yea totally, ahem, yeah I totally know how to play this stupid little game, and I even have this,” she said showing off the deck of cards.

Marcus was impressed she had that, but he figured she bought a premade deck that was meant to do certain things and there was no way she remembered all the rules.

“Impressive to have gone and bought something, not such a dorky card game after all huh? Are you sure you don’t need a refresher?” Marcus asked

Helena begrudgingly agreed to Marcus’s short summary, she sat up straight to give him her full attention.

“Alright, let’s start with the basics. In Yu-Gi-Oh, each player has a deck of 40 to 60 cards. The goal is to reduce your opponent’s Life Points to zero by summoning monsters and using spell and trap cards.”

He looked at Helena to see if she was following, she was leaning her head on her paw, but he could he had a small amount of her attention.

“Okay one of the big aspects of this game, is Special Summons. These cards use other cards as “materials” in order to be summoned. Basically, just read what your card does and the requirements needed to perform an action.” Marcus explained as

“Yeah yeah I got it, thanks for the refresher,” she said as she observed the cards given to her.

Marcus began setting up his side of the board, Helena got a glance at this and began mimicking his setup. She saw him make two piles, and then retrieve 5 cards in his hand. She remembered this in the videos she watched, one deck is for normal playing cards, while the other is for special summons. Once she set up her side of the board she looked over at Marcus who was watching her carefully.

“What?” Helena asked.

Marcus jumped a bit and his face turned a bit red, seemed her question pulled him out of deep thought. He prepared his deck and looked over at his flaming-eyed opponent.

“Alright I’ll go first.” Marcus announced as he set up his hand

Helena hid behind her cards examining his playstyle.

Marcus played a Molten Destruction Spell followed by a Battlin Boxer Glassjaw.

“Alright, now it’s your turn.” Marcus directed

She looks down and sees she has two summons, a spell, and two traps. She figured it wasn’t a bad hand. She went to place a card until Marcus stopped her.

“Aren’t you forgetting something?” Marcus asked.

“What? Can’t I make a move?” Helena questioned.

“At the start of a Turn Phase, you draw a card from your deck,” Marcus said pointing to the stack of cards to her right.

“Oh yeah almost forgot,” Helena said trying to play off her mistake.

“Mmhhmm” Marcus responded as he enjoyed watching her struggle.

Helena drew from her deck and received a Gagagawind spell card.

“Gosh these cards have such stupid names,” she muttered to herself.

She looked through her deck before starting to get overwhelmed by all the words on each card. Wanting to move on with the game she played her Gagaga Magician and then entered her battle phase.

“She bought the Gagaga deck? That is hilarious at least I can help her with it,” Marcus thought watching her play.

“I use an attack on your Glassjaw guy,” Helena said.

“Not a bad play alright, My Glassjaw is defeated and a battle replay can occur if you choose to continue to attack. Do you?” Marcus asked now interested to see what Helena would do.

“Uh yeah sure, I guess,” Helena responded.

Helena continued her attack and did 1500 of damage to Marcus’ LP.

“Ah hell yeah, take that!” The Hellhound said getting excited after the current play.

“Alright let’s see what these special summons can do.” She said now getting more into the game.

Marcus sat back and watched as the Hellhound read through her cards and plotted her next attack. He was happy to see she was starting to take a liking to the game.

After a while, Helena made a move, she played both her Gagaga Magician and Girl to special summon a Gagagaga Magician; which she then followed it up with a Gagaga shield. She looked pretty proud of herself and gave Marcus a competitive glare.

“Your move run- I mean Marcus.”

Marcus chuckled at her competitive attitude. He almost felt bad for what he was about to unleash on her.

Marcus played a Reinforcement of the Army spell card to get rid of Helena’s Gagaga Shield.

Helena’s ears folded down as she watched the rest of his turn play out. Marcus then played his Switchitter and Glassjaw, which he then sacrificed to special summon his Boxer Nova Kaiser.

“And I end my turn with an Overlay Regen which adds 100 attacks to my Kaiser. Your move Helena~”

A slight whimper could be heard from Helena as she looked through her cards. She didn’t know what to do, so many moves just happened in such a short time, that it made her head hurt. She drew a card from the deck and made her play.

“Uh I play my Gardna, and uh end my turn.” She whimpers, having lost all the confidence she previously had.

Marcus smirked and in one move he used his Kaiser to eliminate her Gardna. She suffered 1700 LP in return as well.

Helena slumped over on the coffee table, her face held a look of despair, she couldn’t believe how fast things turned against her. She looked as if she wanted to call quits right then and there. The only reason why she didn’t was because she was too proud to be labeled as a quitter. Marcus saw this and honestly felt a bit bad. She clearly lied and didn’t really figure out the deck like she planned. Marcus wanted to win but not like this. This was the equivalent of him going toe to toe against her In an arm wrestling match, it just wasn’t fair no matter how you looked at it.

“Hey Helena, if ya want to stop-“

“NO!” She barked, her eyes flaring up as she spoke.

“At least let me give you some tips, I can easily tell you never played this game before,” Marcus said trying his best to reassure her.

Helena sighed and sat up, “Alright what do you recommend then?”

That deck you have should have a Monster Reborn card. Use that to reset your play and go from there.

Helena took a breath and took his words into consideration. “Alright, we’ll see where this goes.”

Helena draws her card and sure of enough she pulls a Monster reborn. She revived her Gardna and summoned a Gagaga Child as well.

“Alright look at that you basically reset your board,” Marcus said doing his best to encourage her.

She then special summoned another Gagagaga magician with her Gardna and Child summons. Marcus raised a brow as he realized she was going for an XYZ summon.

“I uh use both magicians and summon my Special Summon Utopic Future,” Helena said not very confident in her play, but she is left with no other choice.

“No no you are doing great Helena keep going.”

With Marcus’ words of encouragement, she grinned as she then used her Harpy Feather spell to eliminate all spell cards on his board.

She then ends her turn by setting her Gaurd Go card. She looks over to Marcus to verify if she made a good play. Marcus on the other hand was left baffled at the advanced play she just made.

“That was… amazing, alright I didn’t expect this from you. Give me a minute to plan something against this.” Marcus said narrowing his brow and crossing his hands together as he formulated a plan.

Helena’s tail began to wag and she giggled as she waited for his turn.

“Ya know this game isn’t that bad, I’m having fun actually.”

“Oh so you don’t think it’s a nerd game anymore?” Marcus responded.

“Oh hell no, it’s definitely a nerd game, but… I am having fun with it.” Helena said with a smile.

Marcus returned the smile, right before he started his attempt to counter Helena’s play.

“Alright let’s do this,” Marcus said as he placed down another Molton Destruction spell and then needed his turn.

Helena tilted her head as to why he didn’t attack but shrugged and drew from her deck. She drew a Gagaga sister and then looked over her options.

“Hmm, I wonder if I can do this with my Utopia Future.” She said as she attacked her opponent Kaiser.

Marcus watched as his Kaiser then went to her side of the board. She then attacked his Rabbit Puncher dealing 1900 damage to his LP.

She ended her turn, which returned his Kaiser back to his side.

“Alright I’m starting to think you got the hang of this game a bit to fast,” Marcus responded.

Helena giggled and leaned forward on the table in anticipation, wanting to see what he would do next.

Marcus resummoned his Rabbit from the graveyard and added it to his Kaiser to increase his attack. He then drew from his deck and summoned a Boxer Sparrer and ended his turn.

Helena drew from her deck and retrieved a gagagabolt spell. She read through the card’s description and a wide sinister grin grew on her face. She set her gagagabolt card and played her sister card which allowed her to summon another spell card.

“Let’s see how you like Two Gagagabolts!” She announced as she summoned her second gagagabolt.

Marcus watched as Helena eliminated his Sparrer card with the gagagabolt and then used his own Kaiser against him once again, and

dealing 3300 damage to his LP.

She then rubbed salt into the wound by scratching his LP with 200 damage from her sister card.

“How do ya like that Marky~”

“Marky?” Marcus asked in confusion.

“It’s a new nickname I come up for ya. You better get used to it, since I’m going to win and all.” She teased as she playfully stuck her tongue at him.

Marcus gave her a friendly chuckle but in reality, he was in panic mode.

“She might actually beat me,” he thought as he drew from his deck.

Marcus panicked at the card he drew, he basically bricked. All he could do was merge his Sparrer with his Kaiser to increase his damage, but that was All he could do.

He made the play and sighed in defeat.

“You know you can call it here, we don’t need to keep going.”

Helena bit her lip “No no I think we need to see this all the way through to the end Marky.” She said as it switched to her turn. She played her Utopic future took control of Marcus’s Kaiser once more and dealt the game-winning blow. Marcus stared at the bored in utter disbelief, he just meant to cheer her up a bit, not have her completely spank him at his own game.

He sighed in defeat but was actually happy that Helena had fun playing.

As he went to congratulate Helena, he was tackled to the floor.

“I Win Marky,” Helena said her voice filled with a mix of lust and excitement.

“You sure did,” he responded his voice mixed with a bit of fear and uncertainty.

Helena chuckled at his response, “You know what that means? You gotta do whatever I say Marky~”

Marcus swallowed a lump in his throat as she brought her face close to his.

“Barely won I should say, I could’ve gone in for the kill, but your pouting made me feel bad so I went easy on you,” Marcus explained as his face began to turn red.

“Oh we are making excuses are we Marky? Well, then you should’ve gone in for the kill.” Helena said placing one hand on his face making sure their gazes met.

“That’s what makes us different, you had a win and threw it away. I took advantage of your pity and here where we are now.” Helena explains. “Plus don’t act like you aren’t enjoying this~ if You did win, I have a feeling we would be in a similar situation regardless~”

Marcus’ face turns beat red from her words. Helena bites her lip as she looks at his helpless expression.

She begins to grind her waist into his

“I’m right, aren’t I? Go on admit it. I want to hear you say you let me win so I could dominate you~” Helena excitedly says, her voice full of lust.

Marcus couldn’t respond the sensation of her waist grinding against his was too much for him.

“Marcus~ I won remember, so I want you to admit it~,” she whispered in his ear. She even gave it a small nibble before pulling her head back to meet his gaze.

“Fine, you’re right, whether if you won or I won I would’ve asked you to take me, alright.” Marcus pouted as he tried to struggle out of her iron grip so he wouldn’t have to look her in the eye in embarrassment.

Helena seductively chuckled as she planted her lips onto his. Marcus was caught off guard but easily melted into the kiss, pressing his face forward into hers. He felt her tongue press against his lips, he gently opened them allowing her entry to his mouth. She wasted no time and barged her way in.

She explored up and down making sure there was no spot left unchecked. Marcus lay blissfully in Helena’s arms, her lips were soft, one of the softest things he had ever come into contact with. And her kiss, it had a cinnamony taste to it. He began to softly moan, and she did the same. After a while, they broke the kiss and stared into each other’s eyes as they caught their breath.

“I’ve wanted to do that to you for so long Marcus, you have no idea.”

Marcus brought his hand up to her face and cupped her cheek.

“Trust me, Helena, I’ve been wanting to do the same to you for a while now as well.” He responded.

“Hmm is that so~ well let’s continue this after another game hmm?”

Marcus looked at her in confusion, “Another game? You actually want to play again?” He asked.

She nodded her head, “Yeah I want you to teach me properly how to play, and maybe later after a few games we can continue this little game of ours in my room~” she said as she groped at his erect cock, tucked away in pants.

“What do you say Marky~ wanna play again with me?”

Marcus looked back at the game on the coffee table and bit his lip.

“Alright, you’re on!”
