Hot damn we’re back for another competition lads and this is one I’ve been thinking about running for a while now. If you’ve been keeping up with the competition channel in the discord you might already know but here’s the official announcement for my 5th writing competition: Soldier Beetles and Automatons. Cute and underappreciated monster girls.
This competition will be a writing only competition again. Looking back at past competitions, the art side really didn’t get that much engagement in the end and by moving to writing only I can afford to run more competitions more often. Sorry to those who were looking forward to the art side.
As always the competition will run for 30 days and will end at around 1300 UTC because that time is good for me and not really any other reason. My competition, my rules. Sorry that’s just how it is.
Rules for Writing:
Must have a Soldier Beetle and/or Automaton as a major characters (main character, or main love interest etc.).
Whichever is not a major character must be involved somehow (side character etc.)
The story must involve someone eating some sort of fruit.
Story must end in a “good end” (can involve suffering, but at least end with them in a good place).
No re-use of already written/published stories.
Maximum 25,000 words length.
How to enter:
Submit your story to me via the TFT Discord preferably via PMing it to me directly. If you don’t have or want to use Discord, you can use the Contact Page on the site and in that case please make sure to mark that it’s for this competition and use a valid email address so I can get back to you.
When will the competition end:
1300 UTC October 2nd 2020. Judging will go for two weeks following, with the results announced on the 16th of October.
Prizes to be won:
The prizes have changed somewhat this time
1st Place – $50 USD of gifted games on your choice of Steam or GoG
2nd Place – $30 USD of gifted games on your choice of Steam or GoG
3rd Place – $10 USD of gifted games on your choice of Steam or GoG
How the judging will work:
Entries will be judged by a group of 3 judges who will not be participating in the competition.
Here we go lads! I wasn’t able to
coerce persuade any artists I know to do an art commission as a prize for this competition, but I’ll endeavour to find someone for next time. It’s fun to give out alternate prizes, but I just couldn’t swing it this time. I am however happy that I managed to get this competition going, this is the sort of pace I’m planning on. 4 weeks comp, 2 weeks judging, 2 weeks break and then repeat. I’ve got at least 4 more competitions lined up so I hope I can see it through.
Now some of you might have guessed, but this competition was in no small part inspired by the art of Latenight who draws some super duper cute as girls. Go check the guy out, but I assume most of you are already familiar with his art, it is never not good.
i want to pet a soldier beetle so bad they’re so damn cute
automatons also get the pat even if it is silly to pat a golem
